Hailing from the vibrant city of Chicago, Binta is a first-generation, Senegalese and Gambian singer-songwriter that blends thought-provoking lyrics and an ethereal voice through song. With roots that stretch across continents, Binta weaves a captivating musical tapestry, fusing the rich melodies of Senegalese pop with the soulful vibes of Neo-soul. Her ancestral language of Wolof and native English serve as vessels, guiding listeners on a transformative journey of self-reflection and awakening, igniting the spark of remembrance of their innate connection to the divine.
The world first discovered Binta's GOD given talent through her debut single, "Bogu Ma Dem," a soul-stirring collaboration with the esteemed Massamba Diop, featured on the illustrious Marvel's Black Panther soundtrack. Now, as she nurtures her artistry, Binta curates her eagerly anticipated debut EP, "Rooted," a convergence of genres that have influenced her to share her gift with the world.
From the prestigious Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago's Millennium Park to Navy Pier, Binta has graced prestigious venues with her captivating performances. Sharing the spotlight with world-renowned artists, she humbly commands the stage.
Not just a master of melody, Binta's diverse talents extend beyond the realm of music. Having earned her Masters degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management from Roosevelt University, she brings a unique perspective to her craft, infusing her performances with an innate sense of warmth and hospitality. Additionally, as the Associate Director of Arts & Culture at the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), she uses her artistic prowess to empower and uplift communities, leaving an indelible mark on the world through her passion and purpose.
